I've gotten hold of Paul Simon's latest album Surprise, made in collaboration with Brian Eno, which proves to be just the twist that he needs to revitalise his songwriting. There are quite a few full tracks up on his website. I particularly recommend tracks 1 and the almost-too-cute track 11.
Paul's pen has gotten really sharp, apparently. He's writing better lyrics than ever. Particularly the opening track. I like the way some of the old giants have had a second political blooming in their sixties. Neil Young's new album, Living with War is up online in its entirety. You can only listen to it without rewinding and without choosing tracks, but it's all there. I'm not thrilled with it artistically, but it's angry.
